Advice to couples

At my granddaughter's wedding, the DJ polled the guests to see who had been married longest. It turned out to be my husband and I. The DJ asked us, "What advice would you give to the newly-married couple?"

I said, "The three most important words in a marriage are, 'You're probably right.'" Everyone then looked at my husband. He said, "Yeah, she's probably right."

I can see your point but with me (we've been married 38 yrs.) there is a slight variation. Yes Dear, certainly Dear, I agree Dear, etc. She doesn't usually respond to this but let me say "I don't think so." You can guess why I say Yes Dear. Signed: A happy if somewhat non-confrontational husband.

Our 20th anniversary is coming up, and I've found that agreeing with your spouse on issues that don't really matter makes it easier to disagree on the ones that do. How refreshing to find a blog that celebrates marriage! I'll be back.
